Happy Halloween!

As a teacher of high schoolers, I feel too old to be dressing up myself. But, that won't stop me from dressing up this cutie.
Always a Batman pumpkin in our house.
And just in case we get some trick or treaters, we bought a bag of candy. So, why not buy our favorite? I'm hoping this rain will discourage trick or treaters so this girl can enjoy some sour patch kids :)

This is How We Fourth

The 4th of July is was my favorite holiday! Maybe it's the pyrotechnic in me, but I love the shared sense of patriotism and celebration. Every year I would look forward to our 4th of July tournament including the pool volleyball, badminton, and cornhole events. Barbeques, bathing suits, red, white and blue everything. FIREWORKS. I love it all.

I remember when I went to study abroad in Italy, I left on July 3rd. Because of the time difference, when I arrived in Italy, July 4th was almost over and I had missed the celebration. I was so sad to be missing my favorite day of the year with my favorite people. I went to get a drink that night with the other Americans I met and, what do you know, there were fireworks! It was a sweet reminder of home.

Moving to Wisconsin was bittersweet for a lot of reasons, but the first holiday after the big move was the 4th of July. It was about a week after we had moved. I literally knew no one here. There was no barbeque, no tournament, no bathing suits (it was too cold!). There were fireworks, but I realized what I missed was the people.

This year was different. It was still too cold for bathing suits, but we enjoyed our day celebrating none the less. The local fireworks here are on July 3rd, so of course we went to the park to see those.
July 4th we spent celebrating with friends from church. We started off with a tasting at a local winery that is owned by a friend's family. Afterwards, we headed to a beautiful house to celebrate with a cookout, games, and gender reveal fireworks! Our friends are expecting the day before Thanksgiving and it's a....

We were team blue/boy.
Girl! (The fireworks were pink in person, my iPhone photography is just lacking)
We can't wait to meet Autumn Jane next month!

Summer Birthdays

It was pointed out to me that I have so many wonderful things going on in my life that I have not taken the time to share on here. So, I will try over the next couple weeks to briefly document my last six months of blessings...

Starting with two of my favorite people! I got to be with both of them to celebrate big birthdays this summer... 50 and 21!!
50 and fabulous! What a beautiful mom I have!

Annual pool party. Love this little piece of heaven on earth and the people there :)

I definitely miss my mom and my brother in Wisconsin. Thank goodness for technology!
