The last few weeks have flown by as we are adjusting to our new schedule. On July 29th, I got a call asking if I could interview the next day for a teaching job from one of the applications I had recently completed. The day after my interview, I got a call offering me the job! The next day I formally accepted and began enjoying my last few days of summer break as much as possible (I had to start work Monday!). My parents were our first guests to come visit us at our new home. We had a nice, relaxing weekend with them and enjoyed watching the end of the Olympics. I have been terrible about taking pictures, so I do not have any to include.
I work at a small charter school that is only about ten minutes from our home. It is a student-centered, project-based learning school and very different than anything I experienced last year. For one thing, I am not a math teacher...not something I was prepared for. The best way I can describe my job is part-time advisor, part-time math coach, and part-time seminar teacher/expert. I will definitely learn a lot over the next year.
We are now having to work together more to get the cleaning, cooking, laundry, and errands all done since neither of us are home during the day, but the extra income has allowed us to add to our savings, buy a few things we both wanted (a book for Justin and a new outfit for myself), and buy Justin a crown for his tooth.
We are hoping to spend a weekend in September camping in northern Wisconsin and a weekend in October visiting in Tennessee. We recently finished watching the second season of the Big Bang Theory. Justin and I are as different as they come, so it is really a nice surprise to find a show we both enjoy together. We have also started reading through the bible together chronologically. Justin and my dad read through the bible together during the last year of our engagement and he wanted to do the something like that together...I have a feeling it may take us a little longer than it took them though.
We miss all of our family and friends and cannot wait to see you soon!
